Metabolism of Excised Rat Skin in Hypertonic Media
The rate of oxygen consumption by rat skin is inhibited similarly by hypertonic solutions of NaCl, KCl, and sucrose. The rate of anaerobic glycolysis is inhibited by hypertonic NaCl. The inhibition of QO(2) by NaCl concentrations above about 2 osmols per liter is not reversible.
متن کاملInfluence of Chemical Permeation Enhancers on the in vitro Skin Permeation of Minoxidil through Excised Rat Skin: A Mechanistic Study
Abstract: Minoxidil, a pyrimidine derivative (2, 4-diamino-6-piperidinopyrimidine-3-oxide) is the only topical medical treatment with proven efficacy for the treatment of Androgenetic alopecia that shown low skin penetration and bioavailability. The main aim of this research was to investigate the effect of some permeation enhancers on the in vitro skin permeability of minoxidil . Minoxid...
متن کاملMetabolism of butoxyethanol in excised human skin in vitro.
Glycol ethers are widely used in industrial and household applications because their chemical and physical properties make them versatile solvents, miscible with both water and organic media. Due to the ease with which the glycol ethers are absorbed through the skin and the potential for development of adverse health effects it is important to understand the extent to which local metabolism can...
متن کاملMetabolism and Cytotoxic Mechanisms of Nitroglycerin in Isolated Rat Hepatocytes
It has been proposed that organic nitrates such as glyceryl trinitrate (GTN), used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, act by producing nitric oxide (NO). However, the biochemical pathway for NO formation from GTN is not well understood. In the present study, we showed that nitrate formation from GTN, by isolated rat hepatocytes, was inhibited about 50% when cellular glutathione w...
متن کاملAlbumin effects on drug absorption and metabolism in reconstructed epidermis and excised pig skin.
To replace animal experiments for the risk assessment in cutaneous absorption European and Non-European regulatory authorities urge to develop in vitro test systems. A variety of methods have been established which, however, vary in several respects, such as the nature of the barrier and used media. Since both affect drug uptake we have compared the influence of albumin (BSA) in the acceptor me...
